Oman – Indonesia Bilateral Trade Up

A delegation from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) have been attending the 38th Indonesian International Trade Fair (Trade Expo 38), which is organized by the General Directorate of National Export Development of the Ministry of Commerce in Indonesia.

Trade exchange between Oman and Indonesia has witnessed steady growth in recent years, as the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached Omani Rial 187.704 million (US$488 million) in 2022.

Oman’s exports to Indonesia reached a value of Omani Rials 32.1 million (US$81 million) , while imports from Indonesia totalled Omani Rial 155.6 million (US$404 million).

Oman imports palm oils, four-wheel drive cars of between 1,500-3,000 cc, private tourist cars, fats, hydrogenated vegetable oils, and smart screens, while the Sultanate of Oman exports to Indonesia a number of commodities, most notably methanol, raw aluminium, gypsum, polypropylene, iron, leather, flour, fish products, crustaceans, molluscs, and fish and bird food.

Indonesia is one the world’s largest Muslim consumer markets and has Free Trade Agreements with its ASEAN Muslim partners including Malaysia. It is also a member of the RCEP Free Trade Bloc which also includes Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan and South Korea.

Oman is a member of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area which also includes Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, the UAE and Yemen.
